Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Book an Appointment With You?

  • The first step is to fill out the Client Design Questionnaire, once submitted it will be reviewed and you will receive a response email. If your inquiry is approved, booking details will be provided.

What Should I Do Before My Tattoo Session?

Before coming in for your tattoo, please ensure that you:

  • Are well-hydrated and have eaten a good meal.
  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine for at least 24 hours.
  • Bring a valid ID for age verification.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for easy access to the area being tattooed.
  • For more details, visit my Tattoo Prep & Aftercare page.

Does Getting a Tattoo Hurt?

The short answer is yes. The level of discomfort varies depending on individual pain thresholds and the location of the tattoo. I strive to make the process as comfortable as possible and will provide breaks if necessary.

Can I use numbing cream or other pain relief products during my tattoo session?

While there are numbing creams available that you can apply before your appointment, please note that using these products is at your own risk. You are welcome to use them, but please follow the product instructions for best results. I do ask that you let me know ahead of time that you plan to use it.

*IMPORTANT: I cannot be held liable for any allergic reactions or healing issues should you decided to use a numbing product, as everyone’s skin reacts differently to unfamiliar products.

During the session, I often use an over the counter product called Bactine, which contains lidocaine, to help manage discomfort. Bactine can greatly extend your tolerance and improve your comfort level, though it won’t completely eliminate the pain

How Long Does a Typical Tattoo Session Last?

The duration of a tattoo session depends on the complexity and size of the design. Typically, my standard sessions last between 2 and 4 hours. Smaller tattoos may require less time, while larger or intricate designs might need multiple sessions. Long sessions can be scheduled upon request and last from 6-8 hours.

How Should I Care for My New Tattoo?

Generally, you should keep the tattoo clean and moisturized, avoid swimming and prolonged sun exposure, and refrain from picking at any scabs or peeling skin.

Detailed aftercare instructions can be found on the Tattoo Prep & Aftercare page.

Can I Bring My Own Design?

Yes, I encourage you to bring your own design ideas! I’ll work with you to refine them to ensure they translate well into a lasting tattoo during your consultation.

All interested clients will be required to submit the Client Design Questionnaire, this is where you will submit all of your tattoo ideas and designs.

What if I Need a Touch-Up?

I offer one complimentary Touch-up within the first year of your tattoo.

Are Tattoos Safe?

Yes, tattoos are safe when performed by a professional in a sterile environment. At hopeinks I adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols to ensure your health and safety throughout the tattoo process.

How Much Will My Tattoo Cost?

The cost of your tattoo will depend on the design’s size, detail, and the time required. My hourly rate is $150, but I can provide an estimate during our initial consultation.
